one down, two to go, says husband.

This amazing weekend was truly the result of hard work and determination.  When Elyssa was born, the school system determined automatically that she would be graduating as part of the class of 2013.  And up until 6 months ago, that had been our plan as well.  In January, when we first found out we were moving to Pittsburgh, we didn't quite know what we were going to do with Elyssa {who was considered a high school junior, but enrolled in college classes through the Running Start program}.  As parents, we of course wanted to do the right thing for her and to consider all of our options.  Well, that amazing, awesome girl figured out that she indeed had enough credits to graduate early, spoke to her counselor, sought permission from her principal, busted out a terrific senior project, took two college Political Science classes at the same time, and kept up an Honor Roll worthy GPA to boot, all in an effort to graduate early, so that moving would be less complicated.  Holy cow awesome sauce, right?  She has literally busted her buns to make this possible and I give the credit entirely to her.  She owned it.

But I do know that she was able to accomplish all of this hugely because of that gigantic group of family you see well-photographed above.  She is surrounded by love and good people.  And I feel honored as a parent, that each of these people traveled from great distances to share this day with her.  We had travelers from Portland, Oregon, Lewiston, Idaho and Abilene, Texas.  And with friends and family all together, there was a group of 30 people sitting in the arena to watch her receive her diploma.  I hope she knows just how proud we all our of her and that we love her just so darn much.

I am one proud momma.  Go Elyssa!  2012!
