niagara falls.

Welcome to Niagara Falls!  Just a not-too-totally-long 4.5 hour drive from Pittsburgh, PA!  This was a first time for everyone in our party, so we had no idea what to expect, but were pleasantly surprised.  Coming from the pacific northwest, we are really getting a lesson in geography, as we explore the states around us.  Of course, we all had to memorize the 50 states/capitals in our schooling, but it's just not the same as experiencing these things in real life.  Like Canada, for instance.  It's just right there across the bridge pictured below.  There's a big bit of difference between knowing it is there and actually seeing it is there.  Canada's side of the falls, by the way, seems to have way more going on in terms of tourist-type hoopla, but passport-less, we enjoyed the offerings of the good old U-S-of-A's side of the falls.

Oh look, Husband.  A bridge to Canada.

Geez, Canadians have all the fun.

The lookout tower and elevator down to the Maid of the Mist tour boats.

Thank goodness for trolleys.  It is a long walk through the park.

We opted for the Cave of the Winds tour.  Free sandals and parka with every ticket!

Only we would notice the Seattle Seahawks color scheme.

Where the parkas became purposeless.

King of the world.

Yeah.  Uh-huh.  You know what it is.

So, that's that.  A beautiful day in Niagara, New York.  We finished out the day with some back-to-school shopping at the Fashion Outlet Mall in Niagara {with everyone else in this city}.  Reviews of the mall aren't the best, but we enjoyed our shopping experience just fine and found some really great deals.  And if that wasn't enough excitement, we discovered that this evening the Buffalo Bills were playing the Pittsburgh Steelers in Buffalo, NY {our hotel is in Buffalo - 16 miles from the falls}!  We might have experienced just a little bit of hometown pride.
