oh the joys of family yard work.

We didn't have this much yard in Spokane and we kept things pretty basic in terms of plant types.  We knew that our new yard was going to take quite a bit more upkeep; more mowing, more weeding, more trimming, all that jazz, but we were willing to give it a shot.  We have only been in this house for one whole week {and most of that has been inside, unpacking and dying of heat exhaustion}, but this afternoon I decided to put on some gloves and pull a few weeds.  And that somehow turned into the whole family outside mowing the grass and pulling weeds and pruning the hedges.  We were all working together to spruce up our house, taking pride in tackling a chore, side by side.  Today we discovered that yard work equals quality family time.  Maybe this yard will be good for us in more ways than one.

I call this one Weeding is My Favorite.

I call this one I'm Smiling Even Though I'm Dying Because This Yard is So Big.

Husband pretends to pick a little weed.

Don't worry.  I was only this stupid for a little while and finally got out the more manly garden sheers.

And then the mail came and Husband announced to the children that he received their homeroom teacher information.

McKenna got excited for a moment.

And then both the children quickly realized...

That they don't even know these teachers.  We're new in town.  We don't know anyone.

But soon we will!
