school is almost here.

Monday was Elyssa's first day of school!  She's our bright 17 year-old who will graduate with her Associate's degree while she is still 17 years old {it's crazy to think about, really}.  Not only that, but she's been accepted into the Honor's Program at her school, where she will be given opportunities for leadership and scholarships!  To fulfill this commitment, she must take two honor's classes each semester, attend the honor's meetings, and maintain her gpa.  She is also taking 18 credit hours this semester!  Yikes!  Aaaaaannnnnnnddddd, her classes are held at three different campuses in the area.  She is going to get to know Pittsburgh better than her father and I, that's for sure!  If anyone can do it though, she can.  And any university will be lucky to have her.

Enough of the boasting {I guess}.  McKenna and Jackson still have this one last week of summer before they are heading off to their new schools.  We visited and found their homerooms and cafeterias and gyms and all that, so they shouldn't get too lost on their first day.  My hope for all three of my kids is to first make a friend or two and then worry about the learning.  And knowing them, they will soon be laughing and talking with their peers.  Until then though, we continue to play with neighbors, shop the back-to-school-sales, swim, and watch Downton Abbey {well, I watch Downton Abbey}.

  2. We know that Elyssa will do great where ever she is and so will Jackson and McKenna, they have a wonderful support system: their parents and each other!
