a halloween blast from the past.

Halloween circa 2004.

halloween cake pops.

My mom smuggled cake pop supplies in her suitcase, all the way from Portland, Oregon!  Lucky us!

We wish you a very spooky Halloween!

what i've been wearing.

Keeping cozy in American Eagle Outfitter sweater, Shade tee, Nordstrom jeans, Born boots

Loft dress, Costco button-up, J Crew necklace, old shoes

Here kitty kitty in Anthropologie top, Loft maxi skirt, Loft sandals

Wow.  How quickly I forget that it was 85 degrees just a few days ago and I was wearing sandals {for probably my last time until spring}.  Poo.  Oh well, now that the weather is quite a bit cooler and definitely rainier, I guess it means I can finally stop shaving my legs, which is something of a bonus!

I hope everyone faired Superstorm Sandy well!  I know we had some wind because the leaves have vanished from the trees, but I must have slept through that part.  Other than that, no excitement to report.

I blog a few of my outfits each week as a way to keep me motivated and out of my sweats.  You probably won't see me in heels much, as although I enjoy looking shnazzy, I am completely practical and selfishly adamant about comfort.  I dress for my life, which is taking care of my family and our home.  And it never fails, the one day I do stay in my pajamas, someone always comes to the door.  I'm trying  my best to stop that embarrassing trend.  Every Wednesday and Friday, I link to the blogs below....

pumpkin carving: a favorite superstorm pastime.

We took a break from eyeball-gluing to CNN, so that we could carve our pumpkins!  Woot woot!  We all did a fabulous job, if I do say so myself.  And now those little pumpkin creations are outside, lined up along the porch, braving the wind and rain, awaiting the little trick-or-treaters {who will now come on Saturday evening because our smart city of Pittsburgh postponed Halloween until then when the weather is clear}.  For the rest of the evening we ate sugary foods, sat fireside and re-glued our eyes to CNN's continuous storm updates.  Outside it continues to rain steadily in Pittsburgh, while the wind blows and blows.  Coincidentally, the kids have been out of school today and tomorrow as part of a scheduled teacher-in-service day, so that has been quite convenient.  We are all safely at home, waiting for Sandy's worst, which hopefully won't be too bad.  Honestly, nothing could be worse than what is happening nearer to the coast right now, so no complaining here.

My thoughts are with the coastal, Manhattan and Jersey Shore peeps tonight!
Be safe, friends!

gettysburg, pa: part 3.

Here are my final Gettysburg photos!  I'll just keep it at that and let the pictures do the talking, so we can go out and grab last minute water, propane and flashlights at the store.  Hopefully everyone else in Pittsburgh is already prepared with those things, so we'll still have plenty to choose from.  :)  We are only on the tail-end of the hurricane, but these are good items to have for winter anyway.

Stay safe!
