gettysburg, pa: part one.

It was a beautiful day to visit Gettysburg {and probably the warmest and driest it will be for a while thanks to Hurricane Sandy}.  We began our tour where all of the smartest/swankiest tourists should - the Gettysburg National Military Park Museum & Visitor Center.  It was meticulously clean and pretty and informative.  We started in the gift shop {which had literally something for everyone to drool over}, walked through the museum, and then ate a delicious lunch in the cute cafeteria.  As a recommendation from friends, we purchased the Gettysburg Field Guide CD to play in the car while we drove along the battlefield tour route, once finished at the Visitor Center.  And now that we have experienced it for ourselves, we would highly recommend it to you and you and you!  But I'll save the battlefield photos for another day {there's a ton!} and for today, here's our museum experience....

Isn't Abraham Lincoln the hippest?

*update - this article has been corrected from an earlier mistake.  The author used the name Hurricane Susan, where-as it should have been Hurricane Sandy.  The author apologizes sincerely if any Susan's were offended by that error, although Hurricane Susan does indeed have a nice ring to it.  Anyway, it was a late night and I don't have much hurricane experience, so you'll have to forgive me.

    1. Yes! Let's go ahead and blame autocorrect, shall we? Thank you Charley!

  2. great tip about the field guide cd...we are heading to gettysbury in april to tour and visit my nephew who is attending gettysberg college. Stay safe with Sandy...this will be our second year without halloween, if Sandy hits us hard in CT. Last year we had that freaky October snow storm.

Thinking about leaving a comment? That would be so awesome! In fact, you are so awesome!
