a three-month update and a mustache.

Three whole months in Pittsburgh!  Hip hip!  I've experienced it all - the denial {nope, sorry, we can't move}, the guilt {i have to move my children from their friends}, the anger {well, you do it since you're making us move}, the depression {i'm so lost and alone in this new place}, the upward turn {the kids love their new school and are making new friends!}, the reconstruction {i love working on the house and making it our home}, and finally the acceptance {i'm happy again!  we did it!}.  It has been quite the roller coaster of anxiety, but I am here to tell you that after three months of being settled into our new home, all the worry is forgotten.  We really do love it here {all the way across the country}.

Elyssa {the eldest} has branched out in ways I never thought possible.  She is doing outstanding as a sophomore in college and has found herself some excellent friends.  She keeps in touch regularly with her Spokane friends via Skype and Facebook and one of her bff's is flying out to spend Christmas with us!  Woot woot!  I am amazed everyday by that girl and she inspires me with her drive and energy!

Jackson {the middle} is finding his way in middle school and making plenty of friends.  His situation has been a bit more challenging, as we had prepared for.  It's stinking hard to move during the middle school years, there's no denying that.  We are proof.  But we are also proof that it can successfully be done, with love and support and encouragement.  Socially, Jackson has been a rockstar.  Academically though, we have discovered that Jackson's previous school was not quite at the level of learning as his new school.  So, he will be getting a fantastic education, but for now it means he has to work extra hard to catch up.  You can imagine his excitement, I'm sure.  :)

McKenna {the little} has jumped right in and made friends and kicked buns in school.  She Skypes her old friends and keeps in touch, but has a wonderful group of new friends here too.  For Christmas, she would love a plane ticket to Spokane to visit her bff.  Those two are planning on going to college together in California and then opening a restaurant together, so visits are necessary for planning!

As for the parents, Husband is enjoying his job and home-life and I am settling in quite nicely too.  I am looking forward to being busy with the kid's basketball games/practices very soon and I still plan on being more social and getting to know some of the moms out there.  I also need to get my own plans made for going back to school.

So, that's that.  After three months - life is good and settled.  Finally.
