our abraham lincoln memorial trek.

Thank goodness for steps to sit on and an amazing view to distract one's brain from sore walking-feet.  We had lunch before making the long walk, but a picnic on the steps would have been awesome.  We have so many things to keep in mind to prepare for our next visit: not-so-far-away parking garages, picnic lunches, time in the museums, and bicycle rentals.  It's so cool, really.  There are bike rental stands in the park.  You pay for the bike and return it to another rental stand when you're done.  We came really close to trying it out, but McKenna was just a wee bit too small and I started thinking that the bikes might become more of a pain than walking, especially with so many people out and about.

Anyway, baby ducks and Abe Lincoln.  Totally worth the 16,442 steps we walked that day!

  1. This is going to sound dumb... But when we saw the Lincoln memorial about 5 years ago I totally thought you could take a pic like, sitting on his lap... I had no idea it was that big or that guarded....
