now the proud parents of an adult daughter. omg.

Your silly mom dressed you up in her flight attendant uniform {shorts for pants are awesome!} when you were almost three.  Look how happy you were at the prospect of being all grown up!  That face says it all.

Well, today you are all grown up.  Eighteen.  EIGHT-FREAKING-TEEN.  You are now an adult.
You go to college, you drive a car, you technically held a job for a few days, so you might as well be able to vote, right?

I have been both dreading and waiting for this day since you were young.  I knew it would come, the goal was to get you here safely, doing the best I could as a parent, and now I can relax a little bit.  Phew.  We did it.  And darn-it, we did a good job!  Look at you.  You are amazing!

We are always going to be here for you.  Always.  That's our promise.  We'll be your biggest cheerleaders.  There is nothing you can do that will change that.  We got your back, big sister.  So, go be a responsible adult and contribute your amazing awesomeness to society because society needs people like you.

We love you.
Happy 18th Birthday.

  2. Happy birthday to her!! And now you've started entering a new stage of life....my Mom now has three kids out of the house and over the age of 18 (and she's begun talking about grandbabies every other day!)
