snowy scenes at the rental.

McKenna suggested we make this our usual rental and that means a lot to her dad and me. There are many overnight options in Vermont, especially in Manchester. There are huge, stately, historic homes turned into cozy inns {that come with breakfast} lining Route 7A {how local do I sound?}, there are chalet-style motels with cabin-like rooms lined in neat little rows, and then there is the Equinox hotel for the fancy-shmancy. Houses for rent come in all shapes and sizes and prices and we opted to rent small and cozy house with a smaller, cozier price. And it has been perfect {I mean, aside from the one overflowing washing machine incident}. We have all kind of been forced to gather in one room for entertainment and dining and it has been good for us. Video games will be blasting while someone is playing the keyboard, while dinner is cooking. It's a happening place. We have gathered around the table for family games of Clue {my favorite} and Monopoly {not my favorite}, while listening to radio tunes. We've watched movies in our pajamas and even gathered together to look at our separate laptops and phones. There's something to be said for small spaces. They're fun until they're not; like when someone gets grouchy. But mostly we've had a super fantastic time. No cabin fever {much}. We've enjoyed a real wood stove fire and comfortable beds {except Elyssa's bed is a bit of a squeaker}. We've also enjoyed the upkeep of shoveling and salting that goes with a fresh layer of snow.

Husband admits that he wasn't sure about this Vermont place when I suggested it. He wasn't sure about the little house either. But he loves it. The kids do too. Sometimes my suggestions can seem really boring, I know. I am an enjoyer of quiet, boring things. I am the placard-reader type, if that doesn't say it all. But Vermont truly is a great place for a family vacation and hopefully someday they'll let me drag them back for another visit.

I'm thinking they will. :)
