a very snowy portland head light visit.

Don't you just love a lighthouse?
They take me right back to my Pete's Dragon days.
And don't these photos just look cold?
It was freezing in that wind and fog!

Whatcha gonna do the day after you were sick all night in Portland, Maine???  You're going to get off your butt and go see stuff, that's what you're going to do.  You didn't come all this way to sit inside some cute bed & breakfast to read a great book all day.  Wait, that actually sounds lovely, doesn't it?  Book, shmook, we had sights to see.  The Portland Head Light was at the top of our to-do list.  I just had to see that sea again.  The fog may have prevented us from seeing much, but I was able to see enough and hear enough of those crashing waves.  It's not like we could dedicate much time to standing there and taking in the scenery, while the snow whirled around us and our toes went numb.  It was a quick, memorable visit.

I'll mostly remember this lighthouse for the walk back to the car, when Husband shared some information he had googled in regard to the writing on the rock {photo above}.  According to Google, Annie C. Maguire was not actually the name of a woman who was shipwrecked on a Christmas Eve so very long ago.  Annie C. Maguire was the name of the ship.

I'll just leave it at that.
But it sounded like a "mistyism" to me.
